Updates on Outer Banks, Read Estate, Investment Opportunities and Construction

I just came across, www.outerbanks.com, site recommending their “Top 10 Things to do on the
Outer Banks.” For those traveling here next month, this is information worth sharing:

1) The Whalehead Club - Located in the heart of Corolla, the majestic Whalehead Club was
built in the 1920’s, is beautifully restored and open for year-round tours.

2) Lighthouse Tours - Visit one or more local lighthouses and learn about their historic
importance: Currituck Beach, Bodie Island, Cape Hatteras, Ocracoke or Roanoke
Marshes.

3) Jockey’s Ridge State Park - Visit the tallest natural sand dune system in the eastern
United States. The park stretches over 420 acres in Nags Head and promotes tours,
hiking, kite flying, hang-gliding, wildlife and impressive ocean to sound views.

4) Wright Brothers National Monument - A Kill Devil Hills monument dedicated to Wilbur
and Orville Wright’s first flight in 1903. Enjoy exhibits, movies, educational programs
and a full scale reproduction the 1903 flying machine.

5) Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station - Located in Rodanthe on Hatteras Island, this station
was built in 1874 to patrol the NC coast looking for ships in distress. The remaining
buildings are one of the most complete US Lifesaving complexes in the US.

6) The Lost Colony - First staged in 1937, this is the first and longest running outdoor
drama in the US. Performed at the Waterside Theatre on Roanoke Island, this is the
story of the 117 men, women and children who were the first to establish US colonies.

7) Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum - The “Graveyard of the Atlantic” has one of the
highest densities of shipwrecks in the world. This maritime museum is located in
Hatteras, and is dedicated to the preservation and presentation of shipwreck artifacts.

8) Ocracoke Island - Called the “Pearl of the Outer Banks,” this town has close to 250
historic structures, many built from salvaged shipwreck materials. The island is known
for its beautiful, quiet beaches and quaint shops and restaurants.

9) Elizabethan Gardens - Located on Roanoke Island, on the same site in which the
colonists first landed, these unique gardens were designed as a memorial. Enjoy self
guided tours, historical celebrations, theater, musical performances and workshops.

10) Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education – Located in Corolla, within the 29 acres of
Currituck Heritage Park, this center explores the history and diversity of NC wildlife.
Highlights include over 250 locally carved decoys and an aquarium containing local fish.
